During the daytime you skate in the spectacular setting of the 18th century courtyard then, as darkness falls, the rink is transformed with architectural lighting to become London's most glamourous night-time destination. Skate to a live soundtrack at one of our open-air club nights, find your feet on the ice with Skate School where children can take their first glide on the ice with Penguin Club. Or simply soak up the atmosphere rinkside at Tom's Skate Lounge. Skate at Somerset House is the ultimate winter destination for everyone, right in the heart of Central London.
The Christmas Arcade Operating from 14 November 2013 though to 5 January 2014 is Somerset House's premier pop-up shopping mall that bringing you a selection of shops from the very best of British brands and independent artisans. Set within the elegant rooms of Somerset House's West Wing overlooking the ice rink, the mall stocks a range of luxury gifts, yuletide treats and bespoke products created exclusively for The Christmas Arcade, creating a unique shopping experience right in the heart of London.
Club Nights After dark, the music will turn up the tempo as the rink transforms into an ice dance floor, skaters bust their moves to a live soundtrack spun by DJs from some of the UK and Europe’s leading clubs, festivals and labels.
Glad Tidings Tuesdays brings the spirit of Christmas to Skate at Somerset House on Tuesday evenings throughout the season, with festive music on Tuesdays 19, 26 November, 3, 10 and 17 December
Skating Lessons The Skate School sets the standard for people of all ages and abilities to learn how to build confidence or improve their technique. A variety of classes and courses are available on weekends in November and December, taught by instructors accredited to the National Ice Skating Association. You can join a course over three consecutive weekends or sign up to one-off lessons. Time: 8.45am to 9.45am on three Saturdays: 16, 23 and 30 November and three Sundays: 17, 24 November and 1 December. Please note that the course of three lessons is either all three Saturday sessions OR all three Sunday sessions.
Penguin Club Children under 8 years old can join the special Penguin Club which provides a safe environment for them to take their first tentative steps on the ice. The 30 minute lessons are designed for 4 to 8 year olds on the Somerset House training rink. Times: 8.30am to 9.00am or 9.10am to 9.40am on four Saturdays: 16, 23, 30 November and 7 December and four Sundays: 17, 24 November, 1 and 8 December.
Student Special Get fit, have fun and save money! Student discounts apply to the following time slots: 12.30pm, 1.45pm and 3.00pm on Monday to Fridays up to 6 December. Please note that students will be asked to show ID to prove their student status/eligibility for this reduced ticket price.
Spectators are welcomed at the Ice Rink free of charge. They can watch from one of the viewing platforms or in Tom's Skate Lounge overlooking the ice. Please arrive at the Ice Skating Rink around 20 minutes early to allow time to get your skates on and therefore allow you to enjoy the full session time skating. Please note that the Somerset House Ice Rink is outdoors, open air and skating continues come rain or shine - therefore please dress appropriately! Wear thick socks for extra comfort and don’t forget your gloves. Parents must judge whether their children can skate safely. The child skate price applies to children 12 years and under. Children under 8 must be accompanied on the ice by an adult. Skating is suitable for children from child's size UK7 / European 25 - age approx 3 to 4 years old. The largest skate boot is shoe size UK 15 / European 50. Children aged eight years and under must be accompanied by an adult on the ice. A child must be 12 yrs or under to qualify for the child ticket price. Bags and bulky items are not allowed on the rink or in the skate hire area. These can be left in the cloakroom for which there is a charge.

Once again The Natural History Museum is set to open London's most spectacular winter attraction this year - a stunning outdoor Ice Rink and Café Bar overlooking the skating rink.
The 950 square metre outdoor ice skating rink in the magical setting of the Museum's east lawn is sure to be one of the most impressive outdoor rink in London. Set within the historic Victorian grounds of the Natural History Museum, the Ice Rink has become an integral part of London's winter scene since it first opened in 2005. Attracting beginners and advanced skaters alike, as well as those simply wanting to bask in the beautiful atmosphere. In addition to the main rink, there is a children's rink for younger skaters and the stylish Café Bar is open to all visitors (including non-skaters) from where you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings and a birds eye view of the ice rink from the balcony. The café bar has plenty of delicious food, snacks and drinks, including Starbucks hot drinks and a range of wines, beers and soft drinks.
Please arrive 40 minutes before booked session to allow for skate fitting. Skating sessions are 50 minutes long. Skate hire is free of charge - sizes range from child size 9 to adult 15. In addition 'bob' skates are also available for toddlers (these are two blades that strap on to the shoe). While there is no minimum age, children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. In addition we advise parents to use their discretion as to whether the child will enjoy the experience if they are very young. There is a 'paid-for' cloakroom facility in the skate change area. Skaters may use their own skates but organisers reserve the right not to allow a person to use their own skates if they decide that they are not suitable. There is no discount to the ticket price for use of your own skates. The rink can operate in nearly all weather conditions therefore please bring suitable outdoor clothing; remember, ice is made from water, and you may get wet. This is an outdoor event and no refunds will be given due to inclement weather.

Christmas Jumper Night Mondays and Tuesdays from 8.00pm to 10.00pm. Naff novelty knits used to be a thing of dread but now they’re this season’s must-have! So why not celebrate this festive trend by wearing your very own to our ice rink and you could be in with chance of winning one of our amazing prizes?
Children's Themed Sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.00pm to 7.00pm. Children's Themed Sessions feature a range of performances and appearances from children’s most loved characters and performers. These themed sessions sell out, so be sure to book your tickets in advance.
Date Night Wednesdays from 7.00pm to 10.00pm. What could be more romantic on a cold winters night than a gentle skate around our rink with that special someone? So whether it's your 50th wedding anniversary or the very first date, ice skating is the perfect excuse to get a little closer this Christmas.
Disco Nights: Thursdays and Fridays from 8.00pm to 10.00pm. We'll be turning up the tempo with a live soundtrack spun by our DJ's with the best of the 80s, 90s and 00s. Our Disco Nights really are the most fun you can have on two blades.
Please note that there is a chance that you will get wet when skating as on occasions the ice can have a thin layer of water on the surface, so try to stay on your feet. Please bring suitable outdoor clothing – remember, if you fall over you may get wet! Also remember to wear or bring socks to make it more comfortable when you are skating. Unfortunately there is no cloakroom facility at the Ice Rink. There will be small storage lockers located in the skate change area for handbags and small items only which are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The Westfield London cloakroom for other items is located in The Village.
Minimum age is 4 years old. Children aged 4 to 7 must be accompanied on the ice by adult (aged 16 years and above) with a maximum of 5 children per adult. Children aged 8 and above are allowed to skate on their own as long as a parent or guardian is observing them from the viewing areas while they skate. The smallest ice skate size is a junior size 10 with additional 'bob' skates for younger children which are adjustable and fit over the child's shoe. These skates also have two blades rather than one, helping younger skaters balance.

Brighton's Royal Pavilion Christmas ice rink and restaurant is back. Stunning, twinkly, romantic, child-friendly, topped off with beautiful food from Jamie Oliver's Fabulous Feasts. Viewed by many as the most romantic and beautiful setting for an ice rink in the country it has set a new standard in Christmas ice rinks for thousands of visitors.
With the former Royal pleasure palace as backdrop, the 800 square metre rink has space for some 250 skaters per session and includes superb child-friendly facilities, with penguin stabilisers and learners' area as well as boots available in sizes from ‘just walking' with double blades to safe blades for bigger kids.

Warm up afterwards in the toasty rinkside restaurant and bar with a cup of spiced mulled wine or a delicious hot chocolate, and then indulge yourself in a range of hearty dishes and winter warmers, the perfect occasion to share with friends and family.
Please note that Ice Skaters should aim to arrive 20 minutes before their chosen session. Tickets are only valid for the date and session time booked and are strictly non transferable or refundable - if it's raining, you will get wet! Children must be 12 years or under to qualify for the child ticket price. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over to the venue. Children under 8 must have an adult aged 18 or over with them on the ice. Boot sizes range from European 25 (ages 3 to 4 approx.) to UK 15 / European 49. A limited number of double runner ice skates ('bob skates') and 'penguin' skate aids (restricted to children under 8) are available, on a 'first come, first served' basis. Long coats, skirts and scarves should not be worn for visitors’ own safety. A limited number of 'penguin' skate aids are also available for children under 8 years old on a 'first come, first served' basis. Visitors are not permitted to take bags with them onto the ice - a chargable cloakroom facility is available. Alcohol may only be drunk in the restaurant area, once visitors’ skates have been removed.
