The Car Man, Matthew Bourne's dance/thriller, was first seen in 2000 and won the Evening Standard Award for 'Musical Event of the Year'. Now you can see it when it embarks on a UK National tour during 2007.

Matthew Bourne's The Car Man is loosely based on Bizet's ever-popular opera Carmen. The familiar 19th Century Spanish cigarette factory becomes a greasy garage/diner in 1960's America where the dreams and passions of a small town are shattered by the arrival of a handsome stranger. As with the original production, the spectacular designs are by long time Bourne collaborator, Lez Brotherston, Lighting is by Chris Davey and Arrangements and Musical Supervision by Terry Davies.
