Celtic Tiger - Michael FlatleyMichael Flatley, the internationally acclaimed master of dance returns to the stage to spearhead his powerful new dance spectacular, Celtic Tiger - a new and powerful arena-scale dance spectacular that portrays the Spirit of Ireland through its history. Please Note: On 15 November 2006 Celtic Tiger Touring Inc. cancelled all European dates for Celtic Tiger starring Michael Flatley due to serious illness. With the symbolic use of the Celtic Tiger - a phrase that was coined to symbolize the new Economic Ireland - Michael Flatley has set out with this new show to dramatise the essence of being Irish through use of imagery, music and, ofcourse, dancing. Expect as show that once again pushes forward the boundaries of traditional Irish dance as a dynamic art form for the 21st century. Celtic Tiger marks the return of Michael Flatley as a choreographer and dancer with his masterful solo performances punctuating this dramatic production. Following the sell out success of the UK shows in April and May of this year, the master of the dance Michael Flatley returns for two more shows in December 2006, in Manchester and London.
Michael Flatley says that "Celtic Tiger portrays the oppression of a people and the tiger symbolizes the awakening of their spirit and their struggle for freedom."
The first act covers the history from the Druids and the arrival of St. Patrick to Ireland's Renaissance after hundreds of years of occupation by the Normans. Following this comes the arrival of the British, the Great Famine and then, finally, the Irish Rebellion of 1916 and the resurgence of the Celtic Spirit. The second half of the show will then bring scenes of modern Ireland to life featuring the rise of both an independent and prosperous nation. |
