Ellen Kent and Opera International present the Ukrainian National Opera of Odessa's production of Verdi's La Traviata at The Birmingham Alexandra Theatre for one performance only. This spectacular traditional production features handpicked soloists, highly-praised chorus and full orchestra. Based on a true story, it tells of the passionate consumptive Violetta. There are many echoes of Verdi’s own life in Traviata and he threw himself into the music. The highlights include the Brindisi, the best known drinking song in opera, the duet Un Di Felice and the haunting tenor aria Addio Del Passato. La Traviata played to a sell-out house at the Royal Albert Hall in 2002 to great critical acclaim. This magnificent production boasts sumptuous sets and costumes. Sung in Italian with English surtitles.
