Shakespeare's epic tragedy of love and jealousy

Passed over for promotion within the Venetian army, Iago's twisted yet ingenious plot sets in motion a chain of events that will destroy the lives of his general, Othello, Othello's faithful wife Desdemona and ultimately himself in this tale of political and sexual jealousy.

One of Shakespeare's most intense tragedies, the action takes place over just three nights and two days - hurtling the main characters to their destruction.

Following its sell out run at the Swan theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon and a highly successful tour in Japan, RSC Associate Director Gregory Doran's production of Othello will be the first production to perform at the newly refurbished Whitehall theatre, under its new name Trafalgar Studios.

The Ambassadors Theatre Group (ATG) has redeveloped the Whitehall theatre to create an intimate and dynamic 380 seat theatre space in the heart of London.

"When you see a great production of Othello, you believe it is the greatest of Shakespeare's plays. And this, no question, is a great production. Absolutely brilliant." The Daily Mail

"Antony Sher is one of the great Iagos" The Sunday Times

"Sello Maake Ka Ncube is the perfect Othello. His dignified military bearing and quiet authority are utterly convincing, and they make his breakdown deeply distressing." The Times Literary Supplement
