Jump
The YE GAM Theatre Company present their critically acclaimed show Jump in London at The Peacock Theatre where it returns due to public demand for a strictly limited four week season following its ten week here in 2007 and three week season in 2006. "Spectacular" The Sunday Times Meet your new nightmare neighbours: the family from Jump have swapped their dust pans and brushes for swords and nunchakus - and they're ready to do battle, Tae-kwon-do style... A hit at the Edinburgh Festival and on stages across the world, Jump is a high-octane display of the ancient Korean fighting art of Tae-kwon-do, including jaw-dropping flips, dazzling acrobatics, sword fights and wickedly observed kung-fu pastiches… crossed with a sitcom. The show centres on a typical, but spectacularly agile, Korean family - from the draconian grandfather and drunken uncle to karate-chopping mother. Each is a martial arts hotshot, all possessing championship level Tae-kwon-do and gymnastic skills, who enjoy nothing more than challenging each other to martial arts showdowns. Jackie Chan meets Buster Keaton in this hilarious blend of martial arts, acrobatics and perfectly-timed slapstick comedy from acclaimed Korean company Ye-Gam Inc. Get ready for a show that really kicks! "A sublime cast of gymnasts, acrobats and masters of Tae-kwon-do, with spot on comic timing. Pure madcap enjoyment" The Guardian "Don't go to the cinema, don't stay in and watch TV. Go and see the movie-length Korean show Jump and you'll get a flying fistful of all you could ever want from the screen, right there on the stage. It is a giddy mix of action flick, soap, silent comedy and cartoon caper, all held together in the medium of a martial arts movie... It's performed by a sublime cast of gymnasts, acrobats and masters of taekwondo, with spot-on comic timing for the abundant sight-gags and pratfalls... Jump is pure, madcap enjoyment." The Guardian "Hilarious. They're not just dazzling acrobats, they're blessed with remarkable comic timing - they literally don't put a foot wrong" The Scotsman "Jump is brash, damnably loud, timed to a microsecond and more predictable than Neighbours, though less rampantly psychotic, and for the most part cheerily enjoyable... Marvel, in the final section of the evening, at the acrobatic feats, the wonderfully resilient physiques of these players as they offer a brief but Olympian display of skill, spinning and flying over the stage, and intermittently trying to walk up walls." The Financial Times "They might just as well have called it Kick, Flip or Hit. The latter would certainly fit this irresistible martial arts comedy, because a hit is exactly what Jump is. Concocted by the Yegam Production Company from Korea, the show garnered great reviews and enthusiastic audiences for two consecutive years on the Edinburgh Fringe. It did the same this time last year at the Peacock, where it has just returned for a longer and probably even more successful run." The Times "A hit at Edinburgh in 2005, and a sell-out at the Peacock in 2006, Jump is still a nifty fifty of a show, a laud-aloud martial-arts caper with spoof-tastic special effects, self-deprecating humour and ring-ding acrobatics... Comedy classics flow thick and quick, from finding lethal weapons on audience volunteers, to bumped heads and burglars in cat-suits... The audience laughed with exclamation marks!" The London Evening Standard The Ye-Gam Theatre Company production of Jump in London has been seen previously at The Edinburgh Fringe and The Peacock Theatre in February 2006 when it played a three week season. Please Note: Strobe lighting will be used during Jump. | |||||||
