Hey Mr Producer! The Musical World of Cameron Mackintosh - Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh will attend a star-studded performance of Hey Mr Producer! - a Royal Charity Gala at the Lyceum Theatre on Monday 8 June 1998. The evening promises to be as uniquely memorable as te magical Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert at the Royal Albert Hall and has been specially put together to raise funds for the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) and The Combined Theatrical Charities.

Hey Mr Producer! will feature staged excerpts from some of the shows which Cameron Mackintosh has produced over the past 30 years including Cats, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon and The Phantom of the Opera; Anything Goes, The Boy Friend, Carousel, Five Guys Named Moe, The Fix, Follies, Godspell, Lauder, Little Shop of Horrors, Martin Guerre, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma!, Oliver!, Putting It Together, Side by Side by Sondheim, Song and Dance and Tom Foolery, as well as Julian Slade's Salad Days - the musical which so enchanted the eight-year-old Cameron and inspired his career as a producers of musicals which have been loved by millions of theatregoers across the world.

The evening will feature the music and lyrics of some of the most talented writers of musical theatre of the 20th-century: Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, Lionel Bart, Don Black, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, John Dempsey and Dana P Rowe, Charles Hart, Louis Jordan, Herbert Kretzmer, Alan J Lerner and Frederick Loewe, Harry Lauder, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, Julian Slade, Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz and Sandy Wilson.

This special Royal Gala is taking place as a result of RNIB approaching Cameron Mackintosh to stage an evening for them celebrating their 130th year. RNIB is the leading charity providing advice and support to people with serious sight problems throughout the UK. Proceeds from this remarkable evening will appropriately help fund a centre of musical excellence at RNIB Redhill College, offering music therapy and training to people of all ages with sight loss and other disabilities. The Combined Theatrical Charities represent the leading charities for the theatre, raising funds for needy and elderly members of the acting profession, many of whom have been responsible for the success of these great shows and have given pleasure to millions.

Featuring a glittering array of stars including Michael Ball, John Barrowman, Brian Blessed, David Campbell, Judi Dench, Lara Fabian, Maria Friedman, Ellen Greene, Michael Hayden, Ruthie Henshall, Hugh Jackman, David Kernan, Tom Lehrer, Robert Lindsay, Julian Lloyd Webber, Jimmy Logan, Millicent Martin, Julia McKenzie, Marion Montgomery, Paul Nicholas, Elaine Paige, Bernadette Peters, Clarke Peters, Philip Quast, Joanna Riding, Liz Robertson, Lea Salonga, Ned Sherrin, Donald Sinden, Stephen Sondheim, Sonia Swaby, Colm Wilkinson have agreed to appear with a supporting company and orchestra of over 200 performers.
