This is the haunting legend of a young peasant girl, Giselle, who is charmed by the handsome Count Albrecht. When she discovers that Albrecht has deceived her, the heartbroken Giselle is driven to madness and death, but even the grave offers her no peace...

English National Ballet's presentation of Mary Skeaping's traditional staging of the 1841 production takes us from the bright, sunny optimism of the village to a ghostly world of mystery and menace. Here, in a mist-wreathed forest glade, the restless spirits of abandoned brides force men who cross their path to dance to their death. Will Giselle's love for Albrecht protect him from their vengeance and a tragic fate? Adolphe Adam's music, played by English National Ballet's symphony orchestra, is an exquisite accompaniment to the thoroughly magical choreography.
