Vicky Hoyles is one of the four remaining finalists in the television programme Grease is the Word who is hoping to play the role of 'Sandy' in Grease the Musical on stage in London's West End theatreland!
Sorry Vicky Hoyles, you're not Sandy. Vickey was the second 'Sandy' hopeful to be knocked out in the Semi Finals on Saturday 2 June 2007.
Vicky Hoyles is a 22 year old Beauty Therapist.
Vicky says: "I have danced for Trevonne Stage School since I was 6 years old and at 16 got my first lead role as Cinderella. Although I also did play Sandy in a production of Grease at High School. I think I could be the next Sandy because I can come across as a sweet and innocent girl and then transform into a sexy feisty woman. It would be amazing to get this role. It's everyone's dream and we're all fighting for the same part. I think we all want it so badly."
Saturday 2 June 2007: This was the sixth week of the live Grease is the Word knock-out television show. This week was the 'Sandy' Semi Finals when the four remaining Sandy finalists - Vicky Hoyles, Alison Crawford, Michelle Antrobus and Susan McFadden - performed solo and two where knocked-out, leaving just two to go forward to the Grand Final next week. First each finalist sung an Uptempo song - Vicky sung 'Lady Marmalade' and David Ian told her after that her performance was "making this a real real tough evening!" After each of the four finalists had sung their Uptempo song, the Judges had to make a decision on who would be the first to be knocked out this evening - they decided to knock out Alison Crawford. Now each of the remaining three finalists had to face the public vote as they each sung a ballad - Vicky sung 'Because of You' and David Gest rold her after that she was "as strong as fire!" while Sinitta said: "You are one of the strongest singers left but the least strong actress." Afterwards Zoe Ball announced that the finalist that the public alone had voted to be knocked out was Vicky.
Saturday 26 May 2007: This is the fifth week of the live Grease is the Word knock-out television show. This week the four remaining 'Danny' hopefuls will perform solo and two will be knocked-out, leaving just two who will be in the grand final on Saturday 9 June 2007.
Saturday 19 May 2007: The fourth 'Danny and Sandy' couple where knocked-out tonight, but in a twist David Ian announced that the Sandy and Danny pairings where going to be changed around this week. Therefore this week Vicky was paired up with Anthony Kavanagh. The song theme this week was love songs and Vickey and Anthony sung the song 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'. After all the remaining finalists had sung and the public votes had been added up it was announced that Vicky and Anthony had managed to secure enough public votes to go through to the next programme of Grease is the Word.
Saturday 12 May 2007: The third week of the live Grease is the Word knock out shows. The theme this week was songs from the musicals - Vicky was once again paired up with Michael and together they sung the Queen song 'Don't Stop Me Now' from the musical We Will Rock You. Saturday 5 May 2007: The second week of the live Grease is the Word television shows had the theme songs from the movies. Like last week Vicky Hoyles was paired up with Michael Quinn and together they sung 'Up Where We Belong'. After all the couples had sung their songs and the votes from the public had been counted up, it was announced that Vicky and Michael had come in the bottom two couples, along with Joanna Power and Richard Morgan - so they had to both perform the classic Grease song 'You're The One That I Want' as if they where Danny and Sandy. After the sing-off, David Gest, on behalf of the Judges, said they wanted to save Vicky and Michael, so they return next week, and Joanna and Richard had to leave this week.
