Sorry Lauren, you're not Sandy. Lauren was the fourth 'Sandy' hopeful to be knocked out along with 'Danny' hopeful Bradley on Saturday 19 May 2007.
Lauren McConnell is a 16 year old student from Sussex. She is the youngest of all the Grease is the Word finalists. Lauren says: "I haven't had any training at all! I have been in the theatre before doing local shows - I am young so I can be taught easily and I am willing to give everything a go and all I can do is be the best I can be. I want this a lot; I want to make my parents proud and prove to myself I can achieve something big, although to me getting this far I have already exceeded my goal by a long way."
Saturday 19 May 2007: The fourth 'Danny and Sandy' couple where knocked-out tonight, but in a twist David Ian announced that the Sandy and Danny pairings where going to be changed around this week. Therefore this week Lauren was paired with Bradley Clarkson. The song theme this week was love songs and Lauren and Bradley sung the song 'It Takes Two'. When all the public telephone votes had been added up it was announced that Lauren and Bradley had come in the bottom two, along with Alison Crawford and Danny Rhodes - thus these two couples had to face each other in the dreaded sing-off, when the judges could save only one pair. The song this week, which both couples had to sing as if they where playing Sandy and Danny, was the classic Grease song 'You're The One That I Want'. After both couples had sung the song, Sinitta, on behalf of the Judges, said that they wanted to save Alison and Danny, thus both Lauren and Bradley where eliminated from the competition this week.
Saturday 12 May 2007: The third week of the live Grease is the Word knock out shows. The theme this week was songs from the musicals. Like last week Lauren was paired with Danny and they sung 'The Circle Of Life' from the musical The Lion King. After each of the finalists had sung and the public votes had been added up it was revealed that Lauren and Danny had managed to secure enough public votes to go through to next week's programme.
Saturday 5 May 2007: The second week of the live Grease is the Word television shows had the theme songs from the movies. Lauren McConnell was once again paired with Danny Rhodes and they sung the song 'What a Feeling' from the film Flashdance. When all the 'Danny and Sandy' hopefuls had sung their songs and the public votes where added up, it was announced that Lauren and Danny had obtained enough votes to go through to next week's Grease is the Word television programme.
Saturday 28 April 2007: This week was the first of the live Grease is the Word television shows when one set of finalists where knocked-out. This week's theme was disco and Lauren McConnell was paired with Danny Rhodes and they sung 'Wishing On A Star' - after all the finalists had sung and the public votes had been added up it was announced that Lauren and Danny had managed to secure enough public votes to go through to next week's programme.
